Download X11/Motif IMOD for Solaris 2.8

For instructions on unpacking, see the latest IMOD User's guide. For instructions on installing and setting up the IMOD environment see the IMOD User's Guide (html/guide.html) in the package. Each file has been archived with tar and compressed with gzip. guide. Installation for the Sun is very similiar to that on the SGI, except that there is only one set of libraries and LD_LIBRARYN32_PATH need not be set. See the file "suninstall" for a sample installation script.

We do not work with Suns, so this Solaris distribution is not tested as much as the SGI and PC distributions. After IMOD 2.42 was built on an Ultra60 Sparc, the imod program was tested extensively but not exhaustively, and the programs and procedures for aligning tilt series, building tomograms, and combining dual-axis tomograms were confirmed to work.

This distribution was developed and tested with the OpenGL runtime libraries for Sun. The Mesa graphics library, an OpenGL replacement, should also work with imod but has not been specifically tested with this distribution. To use the Mesa libraries, build the libraries libMesaGL.so and libMesaGLU.so. The example programs in the Mesa distribution need not be made. Then rename the Mesa libraries to libGL.so and libGLU.so and put them either in /usr/lib or in the IMOD/lib directory.

Each file has been compressed with gzip and archived with tar.
