NAME

gridInit - Generate a model with a regular grid of points over a specified volume.  

SYNOPSIS

gridInit volName dx dy dz
gridInit volName xMin:dx:xMax yMin:dy:yMax zMin:dz:zMax  

DESCRIPTION

Generate an IMOD model with a regular grid of points over a specified volume. The output model will have the same basename as the volume, with "_grid.mod" appended. Uniform grids of this type can be useful for semi-automated particle picking for isolated particles via template matching with a user-supplied template, or via refinement of a single- or multi-particle reference.
volName = string
The path to the input IMOD model. The output model will be created in the directory where the volume is located.
{dx | dy | dz} = float
The step between grid points in each of the 3 dimensions. When only a step is specified, the grid will be taken as dx:dx:(nXVoxels - dx).
{xMin:dy:xMax | yMin:dy:yMax | zMin:dz:zMax} = 3 colon-separated floats
This format allows explicit control over the minimum and maximum values at which grid points will be placed, in addition to the step, in each dimension. Volume coordinates for each dimension are taken as ranging from 0 .. nVoxels, corrsesponding to voxel centers at 0.5, 1.5, .. nVoxels - 0.5. This is the same as IMOD's convention for x and y, but not z, since IMOD assumes z centers at 0, 1, .. nVoxels - 1. The z coordinates of the grid points will be converted to follow IMOD conventions before creation of the new model.
