NAME

addModPts - add points at a specified interval along existing contours

SYNOPSIS

addModPts modelFileName intervalInPixels
addModPts modelFileName intervalInPixels T

DESCRIPTION

When working with filaments, it is often convenient to create IMOD model(s) with sufficient points to define the path of the filaments, but not necessarily the location of each particle along the filament. AddModPts can be used to complete a model by adding additional points at a specified interval along existing contours. The modified model will be written to a new new file with the suffix "_PtsAdded.mod".

Points in the input model should be further apart than the requested interval (typically, much further). Even when this requirement is met, the output may contain some points spaced more closely than requested. As a result, PEET's flgRemoveDuplicates option should typically be set to 1 when using a model generated by addModPts. When invoked with 2 arguments, addModPts will process all contours of all objects. When invoked with an optional, third argument of "T", addModPts operates in a special mode designed to prepare input for modTwist2EM. In this case, exactly 2 objects must be present in the original model, containing contour(s) and points in 1-to-1 correspondence. Additional model points will be added at the specified interval so as to maintain this correspondence. See the man page for modTwist2EM for more details.

modelFilename
The name of the input IMOD model.
intervalInPixels
The desired interval between points, specified as an integer number of pixels.
