Direct Electron Camera Panel

The Direct Electron Panel is specific to only camera supported by Direct Electron. Currently this includes a direct detector(DE12) and a Lens coupled camera system (LC1100).  It is also possible to acquire data using the direct detectors survey sensor through SerialEM (DE12 Survey).  The control of the camera is done via a Direct Electron Camera Server.  This means that the machine you run SerialEM on and the Direct Electron Camera Server do not have to be on the same machine, but only connected through a network connection.  You will want to ensure the Direct Electron Camera Server version that is running on your system should be 1.0.383 or greater.

Name

The current name of the Direct Electron camera.  Possibilities include: DE12, LC1100 and the DE12 Survey Sensor.  This field will update when you select different Direct Electron cameras.

Temp (C)

The current temperature of the camera.  Normally for the camera to be properly cooled it must be in the -30 to -60 degree Celcius range.

Water Line (C)

The readout temperature of the water line to cool the camera.

Image Acq Mode (Direct Detection systems only)

Current options include UnCorrected and Dark Corrected.  This option tells the DEServer what type of image to pull back.  If you select "Uncorrected" you are essentially pulling back a raw image.  This raw image is actually an average of several read out frames from the camera.  If you select "Dark Corrected" then you are having the Direct Electron Camera Server perform the dark correction for you.  Using Dark Corrected mode will provide a more accurate calcuation of the dark image.

Insert

The camera (if insertable) is inserted if it is checked.  If this camera is not retractable then it will always be checked.

AutoSave Raw (Direct Detection systems only)

Select this option to have all the raw image frames be saved on the server.  This will simply set a flag to tell the Direct Electron Camera Server to begin saving all the frames.  Note that the saving of the frames only occurs on the Direct Electron Camera Server.

AutoSave Sum Images (Direct Detection systems only)

Select this option to have all the summed raw image frames be saved on the server.  This will simply set a flag to tell the Direct Electron Camera Server to begin saving all the frames.  Note that the saving of the frames only occurs on the Direct Electron Camera Server.

Window Heater (LC1100 only)

Turns the window heater of the Lens coupled camera system either on or off.  In general you will always want the window heater always running.

TEC (LC1100 only)

This in general will always be on as well.  Depending on your setup and conditions in the room, you may want to leave the window heater on for a while before turning on the TEC to the lens coupled system.

Max FPS (Direct Detection systems only)

This represents the current frames per second that the camera itself is acquiring.

Options

Cool Cam (Direct Detection systems only)

This will begin to cool down the camera to the desired temperature based on what has been set on the Direct Electron Camera Server.

Warm Cam (Direct Detection systems only)

This will begin to cool down the camera to the desired temperature based on what has been set on the Direct Electron Camera Server.
